Spectacular

First off, I'd like to give props to whoever your voice actor(s) was. I think without someone who could understood and convey the comedic properties of your script, this wouldn't have been as enjoyable.

Usually I'd analyze each individual aspect of one's flash, but I don't feel the need here. You found humor and irony in something extremely far fetched, yet blatantly understandable. I wouldn't have thought of such a perspective in a million years.

Now I need to pump some more goodies into my halloween flash as competition as tough as yourself puts forth material this entertaining. Happy halloween.

ImpendingRiot responds:

Kind words, really.

I look forward to seeing whatever you enter :)

A Satire of a satire. lol.

The Ultimate Showdown was an animation satirizing a plethora of heros and villians spanning multiple eras, duking it out in a battle royale 'last man standing' scenario. The concept of that movie was generic, the script and music were comical, and the animation was quite average.

The cult that followed after its release was huge. Maybe this type of recognition and admiration was worthy, or maybe it merely split from the roots of the 'ebaums world dot com' following. Either way, a parody was inevitable, and I commend you for your hilarious effort.

The graphics' and sounds' quality were of little importance in poking fun at TUS, moreover, I believe it was requisite that the graphics were poorly executed and hectic, as the music had to be poorly written, rushed, and its lyrics not comprehendable at times. If one could not fathom the epic insanity of such a showdown through neither sight or sound, in which they are overwhelmed by hyperactive visuals and lyrical babble to back it, then I believe this satire achieved what if sought.

Its not that the content was entertaining, its the fact that mocking a widely acclaimed flash by regurgitating it, in a form no greater than a pile of horse shit, was more than enough to boil the blood of TUS's fanbase, and upset the community with something that isn't remotely offensive .. at all.

Bravo.

Graphics:
Extremely smooth drawings + extremely well done animation = Best looking series on Newgrounds. The voices, bodies, and faces all looked realistic, yet had a nice cartoony feel to them. Since the characters were so symmetrical, it had a natural movement to it aswell- Your walk cycles are amazing. Your exquisite design makes for a very proffesional looking cartoon. I love the camera pans, the special effects, and the lighting. Your scenery and characters in the moon light added added to this chapter's extra element, mystery.

Voice Acting:
All the characters had well done voices; Sinister characters sounded evil, goofy characters sounded stupid, intellegent characters sounded enlightened and inspired, alert characters sounded suspicous. The voice acting really helped add more than pulchritudinousness to the characters, a sense of depth.

Sounds and Music:
All the sounds, music, and effects helped propel the voice acting. I loved how they fart echoed through the cave, and the voices echoed through the open stone room. Such effects really added to the atmosphere and overall mood from each scene. The music was subtle and didn't overpower the voice acting which is good.

Story:
I love where you are going with this story. The first chapter was much happier and brighter, and Ch2 has a very dark story, yet it is comprable to Ch1. The cartoony style taken on by the character design and the voice acting gave me a secure feeling, but I knew Evil was going to rear its ugly head. The protagonist and antagonists both fufill their stereotype which is amusing and scary at the same time.

When making a movie, you don't always write a script because is original, or funny, or scary. When you combine different story telling elements, and fuse different emotions [while executing a simple plot along the way] that is when you have entertainment. I want to feel intiminated by the bad guys, and befriended by the good guys, and understand what tempations each of these characters is apt to falling for as the movie progresses.
Awesome job.

The verdict: Thumbs way up

Brilliant.

graphics:
Well, i dont' think this was meant to be the prettiest film. It would've actually been less humorous if it had more fluid graphics and animation.

sound:
the repetative 'matrix' music could have been something else, but the battle sounds and the epic soundtrack from spr almost made me cry. :'(

humor:
holy fuck, i haven't laughed so hard in a long time. The baby with the machinegun in the carriage was fucking wonderful!

overall, great job guys. i don't care how low this scores i will fifen it. Please make a sequal, but take your time on it. It wasn't a visual achievement, but it was fucking funny and if it makes me smile as much as it did then it deserves a high score.

Onic responds:

Wow, such a long review, thanks.
I'm glad that you liked the flash that I put together here. And I am making a sequal as we speak, I am putting more time into this one so It will be alot more visualy stunning than this one.
On this one I wanted to keep the graphics mild as too not take away from the humor in the flash, and I think it worked out pretty well. I originaly made this as a joke and showed people and they loved it so I made it into a full flash, and I had to use the SPR SoundFX, they top it off.
Once again thanks for the review and have a great day.

Graphics: I loved the frame by frame. Your characters looked fairly realistic, but you could probably work on adding some more detail, including shadows to the faces and body, if you want to give it a fully realistic effect. Maybe downsize the brush tool a bit so you get a more fine line and can fit more detail. Otherwise, it was animated and drawn nicely.

Sound: The Kill Bill music is a compliment to any film noir styled movie. Nice choice there. The sound effects were top notch. The guns sounded nice and crisp. Maybe work on the voice recording quality though.

Style: The black/ white look was a good decision on your part for this film. The violence is more straight foward and intense when blood red is the color that stands out most. You presented your characters nicely, and the main characters moves were both suave/smooth and stylish.

Story: Well. This one, story wise, was extremely generic and cliche. Some guy goes and kills a bunch of bad guys with guns blazing. Maybe add a bit more of a story to the next one. A rich plot can make a movie, when no plot at all can break it.

Overall: Good job. Cold Blooded Killer is exactly what it sounds like it is. Some guy who seems to have no remorse for the people he kills, and is a badass at doing it. Good job, you chose good colors, presented nice action sequences, and the overall mood was fun and stylish. The only thing I can really complain about, is the "kaboom", and the black and white scetchy clips at the end were extremely random and completely killed the awesome mood of the rest of the movie. If you make something as good as this, you want it to end on a strong note, not an abrupt rushed ending.

Graphics: The drawings and character designs could have been slightly better but the animation was awesome. I loved your use of colors, and fast paced character movement. The visuals were awesome.

Sound: The music really fit this good. I'm glad you didn't use any sound effects, it would've taken away from the overall presentation.

Style: You did a great job on this one. The scenes ended at the right time, the music was good, great visuals. I also liked how it was sort of suspensful, but it had a happy ending. The mood, and vibes were delivered exellently.

The only thing I could complain about is how it ended kind of abruptly. They just looked at eachother and it was over. The rest of the movie was fast paced which was good, but you should have slowed down the end a bit. Otherwise, it was great.

AligatorHead responds:

no the ending. it shows a nice SLOW result. it showed the ending slowly. go wathch again and seee what i mean.

++Hilarious++

Graphics: Much better than the first one, I like the fbf animation, the lipsyncing, and the character pic on the bottom is a nice touch.

Sound: Great uses of music, it really added to the comedy. Unlike the first, this one actually had voice acting, which was brilliantly done.

Style: Very original -007 type parody-. It was hilarious and was executed very well. Humorous climaxes came about at the right ouch, and all the timing was amazingly done.

Humor : It was hilarious. Every other second a clever witty line was said, or something upexpected was revealed.

Overall: You are just a funny guy. I was on the floor laughing at your TT submission too. You know when to crack a joke and when to throw in something different and unexpectedly funny, and witty.Good job, can't wait for the next one!

Oh and I loved the idea of some of the girls not having any faces. i'm guessing it is displaying how all those secret agents in the film are players and will sleep with any girl they come across, no matter who..

5/5

SecretAgentRege responds:

Thanks for the in-depth review! I definately worked on making this a much higher-quality release than my first episode. Also, thanks for enjoying my time trial submission!

And, you are correct about the girls. Good looking out!

++Stylish and Fun++

Graphics: Top Notch animation. Some of the best use of stick figures I have ever seen in a flash. I love the visual dark ambiant mood you creating using fairly pale, darker colors. I also enjoyed the effect of a shaky camera, which gave it a fast paced frenzied action feel.

Sound: The music was just right, and seemed to sync with certain parts. Although there were sound effects durings some parts and no sound fx during others which seemed kind of weird.

Style: Stick figures aren't an original type of animation and are usually poorly done by amatures, but it is obvious you have a defined style and have mastered the art of stick figures.

Violence and Humor: The gore in this fit in with the action. Some parts were slightly humorous, but it was mostly serious action.

Overall: Great job combining beautiful animation with a great soundtrack, the only thing this lacked was story and it was just an entertaining killing spree type movie. Maybe add a bit more to the story and it will be better. Otherwise there is not much else I can critique, so well done.

Get-lost responds:

Thanks a lot for taking time and writing one of those long reviews wich I enjoy reading :D

That was beautiful. Once I saw the alpha for this I knew it was going to be good. It was perfect.

You are defidently one of the top flash animators out there. This was beautifully animated and really showed off your amazing frame by frame. I don't know why you are having trouble getting your stuff on TV. My uncle in the entertainment business, I'll see if I can find someone in your division.

The music did seem a bit off in parts, I don't know if that was intentional but the beta nad the singing were not playing correctly at times. Otherwise it was absolute perfect.

Good job, hopefully whne you guys get aroudn to making Pico 2, the grahpics will be this great!

MindChamber responds:

Thanks for the props!,

Yeah I lower the quality of the sound to get a lower file size, and for some reason the beat is off.. sorry about that.

++Great++

Pox, man. That rocked.
---
Graphics: Great. Could have used a few more colors, but I loved the detail and character design. Some segments kind of reminded me of Rockman Neo.. but to Rammstein... therefore kicking total ass.

Sounds: The music was good, but it went on for a while. The song selection was perfect and went with your industrial grung post apocolyptic whatever the fuck you wanna call it style. But I was diggin it.

Humor: Well humor is not an issue here. This seemed to be more on the side of seriously heavy metal music video, not some jolly day in the chocolate factory.

Overall: One of the best music videos in a while. I love how it resembles Rockman Neo. I don't know if you were aiming for that, but you really achived a pretty damn stylish mother here.

---

Well damn pox! Hopefully you will snag an award with this rare jem. I'd like to see you submit more often. =D This defidently goes on my favorites list.

poxpower responds:

well I say its got just the right amount of colors. I'm pretty sure on that. Plus you win, this IS mostly inspired from Rockman Neo. Sorta. I just wanted to make this FLash because I rewatched Rockman not long before.

Also, I would definately submit more often if I wasn't so lazy. And if I didn't do Pickleman on I-Mockery.com and if I didn't go to College. Did I mention I was lazy?

anyways thanks for the reeeview :o
